When Innovation Continues Beyond a Product’s First Life
This is the philosophy behind L∞p by Daikin, an initiative focused on the recovery, reclamation and reuse of refrigerants, helping to reduce environmental impact and support a more responsible use of natural resources.
Put simply, what was once considered the end of a product’s life can become the beginning of a new cycle, where valuable resources are recovered rather than lost.
In practice, the process begins with refrigerant being recovered from existing systems through a network of installers. It is then reclaimed in Europe through a high-quality process that restores it to a quality equivalent to virgin refrigerant. Its quality is independently certified and meets the AHRI 700 standard.
The reclaimed refrigerant is combined with virgin refrigerant during production, while an equivalent certified quantity is administratively allocated to L∞p units manufactured and sold in Europe. In this way, refrigerant is brought back into use, helping to close the loop.
Through the L∞p programme, Daikin helps avoid the production of more than 400,000 kg of virgin refrigerant every year, supporting the transition towards a more circular and responsible use of resources.
